On Thursday, January 22, President Obama is expected to issue an executive order lifting the ban on the use of federal dollars by non-governmental organizations that discuss or provide abortions outside of the United States. January 22 is the anniversary of Roe v. Wade. This means that groups working towards reproductive rights outside of the US will again have more funds available for them. This policy ban is known as the "Mexico City policy", and was first used in the time of Pres. Reagan. The ban was lifted during the Clinton presidency and later instituted again during Pres. Bush's two terms.
